Warhounds: Mercenary Tactics Guide
Combat, Base Ops & Everything We Know

Warhounds is a turn-based tactics & strategy game inspired by XCOM and Jagged Alliance. Command an elite mercenary squad with an old-school action-movie vibe, wage a campaign in an alternative-future Africa, and decide the outcome of a collapsing region mission by mission. Every turn is decided by your planning and honest ballistics — not by fake RNG.

01Game Overview

Warhounds puts you in command of an elite mercenary squad in an alternative-future East Africa, 2035+. The region is being torn apart by the DAAMAT regime, a violent faction seizing power country by country. A president hires your crew — the Warhounds — to push back. Between missions you run a mobile base (a hijacked cargo ship), recruit and equip operators, manage finances, medical, logistics and downtime, and pick allied factions. Combat is turn-based with real ballistics: no point-blank misses, destructible cover, vertical gameplay and cone overwatch. Missions run 25–40 minutes and every contract has consequences.

Command the squad

Five operator classes — Assault, Specialist, Sniper, Machine Gunner and Grenadier — combine into a squad that you recruit, equip and command. High combat lethality means every decision counts.

Run the base

Between missions you run a mobile ship base: recruit, upgrade, buy equipment, handle logistics, finances, medical and downtime, and use intel as currency for contracts and improvements.
