How Warhounds actually plays: the first hour, mission pacing, ballistics, AP economy, overwatch, ammo discipline and the tactics that win fights.
From first contact to the ship base — what the first sessions look like.Contracts are picked up from intel and run 25–40 minutes each. You can tune difficulty from a brutal tactical hell to a light, relaxing run, so the pacing suits short sessions or long campaigns.
The opening mission drops you into the middle of a DAAMAT-occupied city. Fighting alongside resistance pockets, the priority is getting President Canindo to safety — the palace has already fallen, and the regime is executing holdouts.
Hit chances come from actual angles, cover and line of fire — no point-blank misses, no fake RNG. Flank shots land reliably; a 30% front shot can become a one-hit kill when you reposition to the vulnerable side.
Every operative has action points. Use the "Go, go, go" command to grant an ally one extra AP, and spend a turn aiming to improve the very next shot.
Cone overwatch triggers on enemy movement and can interrupt actions. Layer two overwatch shots to reliably stop a moving enemy, and use suppression to control corridors.
Cover is destructible and multi-floor fights are real. Seize the high ground, break enemy cover with heavier weapons, and use limb shots — including knee shots — to disable and capture officers alive.
Ammunition is limited. Running dry mid-fight creates real pressure, so plan reload windows behind cover and treat ammo as part of the loadout puzzle.
Armor can be destroyed ("Armor destroyed") and operatives call out "I'm hit" and "Can't stand upright anymore". Extraction and medical care matter — treat and extract wounded operators to keep the roster healthy.
