Warhounds Classes & Squad Guide

Five operator classes combine into your squad. Hire fighters with personality, pick the right gear for the job, and protect your key operatives.

The Five Classes

Steam describes the roster as "Hire fighters with personality. Combine classes — Assault, Specialist, Sniper, Machine Gunner, and Grenadier. Pick the right gear for the job, treat and extract, protect key operatives."

Assault

Front-line breakthrough and close-quarters shock

The tip of the spear. Assault operators push into contested buildings, clear rooms and create openings for the squad. In a game with high lethality, their job is to be first through the door and hold the line while specialists and snipers do their work.

Pair Assault with grenades and body armor (a tip straight from President Canindo). Use them to bait overwatch and break contact when enemy drones arrive.

Specialist

Tools, gadgets and mission-critical systems

The operator who makes impossible objectives possible. Specialists handle drones, combat scanners, smoke, optical camo and the technical work — including roles that hijacking missions specifically require (not every soldier can seize a ship).

Check mission objectives before loadout: hijack/technical tasks usually need a Specialist. Use scanners to reveal enemy positions before committing the squad.

Sniper

One-shot kills and overwatch denial

The long-range eliminator. Snipers can one-hit kill in the playtest and are your answer to high-value targets and enemy officers. Their weapons need reloading after shots, so timing and positioning decide how often you can fire.

Even a sniper can miss — angles and flanks matter more than raw skill. Use them to cover windows and building exits with overwatch.

Machine Gunner

Suppression and area denial

The wall of lead. Machine gunners control sightlines, lock down enemy movement and punish squads that push across open ground. Their heavy firepower makes overwatch truly lethal.

Place Machine Gunners in elevated positions or behind full cover to multiply their suppression value. Watch ammo — running dry mid-fight is fatal.

Grenadier

Destruction and area saturation

The demolitions specialist. Grenadiers crack open destructible cover, flush enemies out of buildings and break up enemy formations before the assault moves in.

Use grenades to destroy cover the enemy is hiding behind — with destructible environments, no bunker is safe. Equip them before deployment, not mid-mission.
